City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri, Dedicates 300-MW Plant | Smart Energy Portal: "Southwest Power Station Unit 2, Springfield, Missouri's newest electric generating source, was formally dedicated and synched to the power grid during ceremonies last week. Construction of the 300-MW coal-fired plant has taken four years, but planning has been underway since early 2003. Testing and commissioning procedures will continue to take place with full commercial operation of the plant expected early in January."
