MO Businesses Can Set The Pace For Energy Efficiency: "Missouri business owners will now get help "going green," becoming energy-efficient and saving money at the same time. The Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program allows business owners to pay for their efficiency-related upgrades over 20 years, with municipal loans that are paid back through a special property tax assessment that passes to the next owner if the property is sold.
Edward Smith, Safe Energy coordinator for the Missouri Coalition for the Environment, says the PACE program is a game-changer in terms of energy-efficiency and the economy.
"It's money that's staying in communities. It's money that's going toward putting people back to work in these specific communities. And it's money that's going toward saving people money in these communities.""
